Rhododendron

It’s rare to find a flower that is beautifully intricate, colorful and fragrant all at once. With proper care, rhododendron checks every box.

This shrub typically prefers cooler temperatures, which explains why rhododendron bushes are most frequently found in northern parts of the U.S. such as the Great Lakes, the Pacific Northwest, New England and the Mid-Atlantic. However, there are more than 1,000 species of rhododendron, some of which can be grown in Southern California, Texas, Florida, and even Hawaii.

The best time to plant rhododendron is in spring. Choose a spot with plenty of shade and be sure to use acidic, well-drained soil. Also, consider soaking the roots prior to planting. Soon, you will have fresh-cut rhododendron flowers to enjoy in your home!
